About Our Book Clubs
We have four Book Clubs: Mostly Fiction, Thrills & Chills, Romance, and Cookbook. They meet once a month (except for Cookbook Club) and new members are always welcome.
Have a look at the Book Club display next to the checkout counter to see upcoming book club books. New copies of upcoming book club selections are 10% off. Come by the store to get your copy or purchase from our online store. There is no fee or long-term commitment, but we greatly appreciate that you purchase the book from us. Please RSVP so we can plan for seating. Call 941-205-2560 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
This group reads and discusses mainly fiction and historical fiction, with a few interesting and relevant non-fiction choices added throughout the year. We meet 6-7 pm. Please let us know if you plan to attend. Call 941-205-2560 or email email@example.com.
We read books that have a great mystery and/or some sort of spooky flare! The more we muse to ourselves, “wait - what’s going on here?!?”, the better! We meet 6-7 pm. Please let us know if you plan to attend. Call 941-205-2560 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We read books that are sure to make you swoon! Guaranteed happy endings (the spicier the better!) are what we crave - and we’ll search across genres to find them! We meet 6-7 pm. Please let us know if you plan to attend. Call 941-205-2560 or email email@example.com.
Our Cookbook Club meets every other month or so (6-7:30 pm) to sample recipes from new cookbooks and discuss their merits. Participants will prepare, share, and sample recipes from our featured cookbook. Limited to 15 participants.
To participate, you must purchase the featured cookbook from Copperfish Books and RSVP for the club (call 941-205-2560 or email firstname.lastname@example.org). You’ll select one recipe from your book (please email us with your choice at least one week before the club meets to avoid duplication), prepare the dish, and bring it to the club. Bring enough for everyone to sample. Also be ready to share why you selected your recipe and any thoughts about the cookbook.
We will supply paper plates, napkins and utensils, tables and chairs.
Question: Can I bring a family member or friend to the Cookbook Club?
To participate, the purchase of a cookbook is required – one purchase per person. Each club session is limited to 15 people. We want to be fair to everyone, so we can’t have some buying the book and others not. Also, the book purchases help cover the costs of hosting the event.
We do understand that one household may not need two copies of the same book. One option is to use that second copy as a gift. Another option is a Standby: If we have a cancellation or don’t reach 15 participants 24 hours before the session, the family member or friend may participate for a Second-Person Fee of $10.00; they would also prepare and share a recipe. Let us know if you would be interested in this Standby option, and we’ll contact you the day before the event.
