This is the first monograph on the western woodlands in Ethiopia - an overlooked area in the study of the Ethiopian flora that has so far focused more on the mountains, the dense forests, or the large eastern bushlands with acacias and Commiphora.

A detailed atlas provides information about the distribution of the species of tree and the three most common types of forest savannahs in western Ethiopia.
