Lucy's "5 Best of 2020"

This compelling and delightful romance asks, “What if a group of men read romance novels in order to be better romantic partners, and men in general?” and delivers on that premise in a wildly entertaining, funny, and ultimately fuzzy-feeling-giving way. This story, and its sequel Undercover Bromance, also tackle toxic masculinity head on, and I absolutely cannot wait for the third title, Crazy Stupid Bromance, which is available for preorder now, and due out on October 27th!

This book had basically everything I could possibly want in it - A renaissance festival, Shakespeare, an array of lovable and quirky side characters, and (arguably most importantly) a central romance that was steamy, heartwarming, and just a tiny bit magical. Devour this, then preorder the sequel, Well Played, which is due out September 22nd!

This phenomenal reworking of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice features a love story between a single-minded neurosurgeon and a jaded chef that is brilliant, funny, sweet, and moving. This novel absolutely stole my heart, and made me hungry for delicious food! It also has a sequel, Recipe for Persuasion, which is out now!

I was hooked from the very beginning of this book, which follows a lonely girl who doesn’t quite fit in, and who is looking for a way to change her story. One day, she finds a mysterious and magical door in an empty field in Kentucky, and sets off a chain of events which send her on a magnificent adventure full of love, betrayal, loss, and numerous forms of breathtaking magic.

This atmospheric thriller never feels repetitive, even though the two main characters end up trying to solve the same mystery 35 years apart. Brimming with ghosts and questions that have no easy answers, this novel makes its readers consider how they view certain crimes, and the victims of them, and I loved every page of it.
