About the Author

Marcus Aurelius Antoninus was Roman emperor from 161 to 180. He was the last emperor during the Pax Romana, an era of stability within Rome. Marcus wrote Meditations, a series of reflections for his own guidance and growth, between 170-180 while on campaign. His writings reflect the stoic philosophy of the time and have become a classic of Stoic thought.

EWDIN GINN was an American scholar, publisher, and peace advocate. He was born in Maine in 1838 and attended Tufts University before founding Athenæum Press, a textbook publishing company. He was a staunch advocate for the peace movement and founded the International School of Peace in Boston. He died in Winchester, Massachusetts in 1914.

GEORGE LONG was an English classical scholar. He was born in 1800 and died in 1879.
